5th of November
This is a random post. You have been warned.

In the past few days, there has been a lot going on in my life. There was Mom’s and Aragorn’s birthday on the 3rd of November, I started going to my coaching again, saw more than 10 movies >.< and read 1984 by George Orwell.
Aragorn is now more than a year old, which is very surprising because it seems like only last month he came in our house. But I do recall a year passing (I was in school) and it was very painful and slow.
Among things like waking me up for a walk, sitting beside Dad during evenings to get his favorite Aloo Sev Namkeen, jumping on parent’s bed in the morning in case my door is closed to tell them to wake me up; he has also learned the concepts of office and home
Ahh! This deserves a new post, I guess I’ll continue on a new one (no procrastination).
So, I am going to my coaching again too, which is very… exhausting, even though it gives me an opportunity to learn many things. Picking up on social skills, that is perhaps a goal worth setting. I doubt I can be called social though.
Anyways, now to the best part, I saw more than 10 movies. Started with 1984 (the movie), Godfather 1 and 2 (again!), Toy Story 1 and 2, District 9, V for Vendetta, Moon, Finding Nemo, Band of Brothers – Currahee and several other episodes of Seinfeld.
See, now you know why I do not complete my homework >.<
I think I should start a movie review category too, but I guess it will be too much work at this stage. Although, I can only review ones worth reviewing, but that would mean either they are too good or too bad K
I read 1984 too, and am forcing Dad to read Animal Farm. This novel is a genius. But you must have a good understanding of communism, capitalism and the difference between the two to get in the flow of it. From the reverse utopia to the clever use of newspeak words, from showing little human emotions to cruel spine-chilling torture, the novel has it all. So, if you are interested at all in political ideologies, you must give this novel a read.
Also, I am in the process of writing a short story (actually two short stories) and let us hope I do not forget them in my procrastination.
I guess that sums it up for today. Oh wait…
Remember remember,
The fifth of November.
Of gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason,
Why the gunpowder treason,
Should ever be forgot.

Heh. No comment on Band of Brothers awesomeness? I remember you being addicted to it when inRO was about to close down.
I just saw Replacements, starting Crossroads in a few minutes.

Great show. The sequel of sorts is coming soon next year called The Pacific. It’s about the americans fighting against Japan. Could be epic.
Remember though, just because USA makes the best movies about WWII it doesn’t mean they were heroes of the war. That honour is placed upon the Soviet Union. If it wasn’t for them, we all would be speaking German right now.

Everyone played their part. If not for USA and their atomic bombs, we might still be hiding in bomb shelters.
USSR did great, but so did USA and UK. The only thing is that we do not see many Russian Movies >.<
Oh.. and I'll look forward to The Pacific. Let me know when it starts though.

No, that’s the thing. It was more about Germany attacking the soviets during the terrible russian winter than america nuking japan. USA only came into the picture when Japan attacked Pearl Harbour (Another stupid mistake)
The nukes in Hiroshima and Nagasaki make sense logically. They saved millions of lives by killing tens of thousands of lives. Ethically, I do not know.
They do make great movies though!

Germany Russia war had to be more intense than others. They both were being led by dictators. On one hand we have Hitler and on the other almost as scary… perhaps even more… Stalin. So, it was more a battle of who is the strongest rather than a logical war pattern.
The move to invade Russia, without proper reinforcements, was not logical or a good strategic move, but it was ideologically correct according to Hitler (more like “I’ll show them what we can do” type) and thus Germany suffered because they lacked the proper equipment(and numbers) to face Russian winter.
Also, as far as the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it is always a speculation, whether it was a good move or a bad one.
We may never know whether it really saved millions, because honestly, the axis powers were very weak when nuking took place. So, they might have surrendered in a year or so, so not “millions” would have died. But again, it is not what happened so we can only speculate.
I feel there was no need for nuking. Japan was easily getting weaker by the day, no need to wipe their cities out.
Anyways, statistically Germany Russian front was where the bulk of the WWII took place.
But, like in a chess game, every piece played its part.

Who wrote the quote in the end?

It is a poem, made by some Lancelot so that nobody will forget the “Gunpowder Treason” committed by Guy Fawkes.
