Eclipse / The Second Coming
All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy,
beg, borrow or steal
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say
All that you eat
Everyone you meet
All that you slight
Everyone you fight
All that is now
All that is gone
All that’s to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
(There is no dark side of the moon really.
Matter of fact it’s all dark.)

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Weird post? Not really. The first chunk of text is a song by Pink Floyd called “Eclipse” and the part after the image is a poem “The Second Coming” by W. B. Yeats.
Both, however, share the same image – total solar eclipse. Both are a brilliant work of art – sublime, flawless, infuriating. Both force you to rethink all your decisions, and make you question the path you have planned for your life. It may be more… blissful to just ignore and not think too much about it. But, how can you not? When there is so much at stake?
We try so hard, we try to be perfect, we try to enjoy life, we try to run around aimlessly. Its fun. But we fool ourselves when we let the darkness eclipse us. Umm… something like that…
Anyways, now something about whats going on with me. I have been watching Heroes (yeah, the tv show) since the past couple of weeks. Apart from being a good thriller, it is so much more… but more on that later (The logo of heroes also features an eclipse and the poem was always covered in one of its episodes, Season 3 Episode 1 also titled ‘The Second Coming’)
P.S. The past week I had many hours of “What do I want to do with my life?” introspection, and I still am nowhere…
P.P.S. After writing this post and 15 minutes of searching in Google – It is “that’s” and not “thats”. Right?
